Recreation Aide
Part Time

Hours of Work:
30 hours bi weekly.  
May lead to full time.
Days, evenings and weekends are required to support the programs on the recreation calendar.

Position Summary:

We are searching for an energetic, experienced program assistant for this role which reports directly to the Recreation Manager. You will assist meeting with residents to assess their recreational needs and interests. You will help to develop creative, meaningful recreation programs based on the dimensions of wellness that will engage our residents. Working closely with all team members and volunteers to develop and coach a cohesive approach to running successful recreational programs.

 Key Qualifications: 

      • Undergraduate degree or post graduate degree in Therapeutic Recreation or have proven related experience
      • Experience/certification delivering programs for seniors
      • Class F driver's license
      • Smart Serve certificate
      • Direct experience in supporting both active seniors and less mobile seniors with recreation and activities
      • Experience working with cognitive impairments including Alzheimer's and Dementia 
      • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
      • Ability to effectively read, write and communicate in English
      • Availability to work various shifts including days/evenings/weekends 
      • Must be enthusiastic, creative, and energetic 
      • Demonstration of a caring and compassionate attitude while working with team members, residents, volunteers and external community participants.
      • Proficiency with office equipment (phone systems, computer, fax, copiers, word, excel, publisher, database management etc.).
